initial velocity(u) = 90 km/s = 25 m/s

time (t) = 5 sec

mass (m) = 200 kg

final velocity (v) = 0 m/s

v = u + at

0 = 25 + a * 5

-25 = 5 a

-5 = a

Therefore acceleration = -5m/s²

Force = mass * acceleration

F = 200*-5

F = -1000 N

Given :-

  • Initial velocity (u) = 90km/h
  • Final velocity (v) = 0 {brakes are applied}
  • Time taken (t) = 5s
  • Mass of motar cycle (m) = 200kg

To find :-

  • Force

Solution :-

→ Initial velocity = 90km/h

→ u = 90 × 5/18

→ u = 25m/s

According to the first equation of motion

→ v = u + at

→ 0 = 25 + a × 5

→ 5a = -25

→ a = -25/5

→ a = -5m/s {minus (-) shows retardation}

As we know that

→ Force = mass × acceleration

→ F = ma

→ F = 200 × (-5)

→ F = -1000N

Hence,

  • Force = 1000N
