They are actually moving in the same direction.
If we try to find the point of intersection of these two lines or the point where the drivers will meet;
x-y = 2
x-y = 4

2x = 6
x = 3
putting in both the equations we get
y=1 and y= -1
Now if you draw the graph you will find out that these lines are coinciding.
so they are moving in the same direction and the will coincide at point
(3,0)
