Given conditions ⇒

Power = 100 hp.

= 100 × 746 W.

= 7.46 × 10⁴ W.


Velocity = 72 km/hr. = 72 × 5/18

= 4 × 5 = 20 m/s.


Using the Formula,

Power = Force × Velocity

⇒ Force = Power/Velocity

∴ Force = 7.46 × 10⁴/20

Force = 3.73 × 10³ N .


Hence, the Forward Thrust on the Engine is 3.73 × 10³ N.
