Given info : A motor pump can fill water in a tank of 40 m³ at a height 5m from the ground in 30 minutes. density of water is 1000 kg/m³.

To find : The power required for this process is...

solution : mass of water , m = volume of water × density of water

= 40 m³ × 1000 kg/m³

= 40,000 kg

time , t = 30 min = 1800 sec

height, h = 5 m

energy required to pump 40m³ water , U = mgh

= 40,000 kg × 10 m/s² × 5 m

= 20 × 10⁵ J

= 2 × 10⁶ J

The power required to pump the the water in the tank = energy/time = U/t

= 2 × 10⁶/1800

= 0.111 × 10⁴ Watt

= 11.1 kW

Therefore the power required for this process is 11.1 kW .
