x+ 2 is downstream

x-2 is upstream

Speed = distance/time

Distance = speed ×time

As the distance for upstream and downstream are same we can say that :

6(x-2)=5(x+2)

6x -12 = 5x + 10

6x-5x = 10+ 12

x = 22
