A motorboat starting from rest on a lake accelerates in a straight line at a constant rate of 3.0 ms^-2 for 8.0s. How far does the boat travel during this time?​

  • equation of kinematics: motion :
  •         s = u t + 1/2 a t²
  •   here u = 0 m/sec  a = 3.0 m/sec/sec    t = 8.0 sec
  •           s  = 0 * 8.0 + 1/2 * 3 m/sec² * (8.0 sec)²
  •      distance travelled in 8 sec = 96 meters

We know that, s= ut + 1/2 at²

= 0 × 8 + 1/2 × 3 × (8)²
