A motorboat traveling with a current can go 120 km in 4 hours. Against the current, it takes 6 hours to go the same distance. Find the speed of the motorboat and speed of the current.

Answer:

let speed of bike be x

and the speed of the

current be y

we know that

time=distance/speed

therefore the dpeed of the moterbike wiyh current=(x+y)

the speed of motorbike against current=(x-y)

from first condition,

120/(x+y)=4

therfore,4x+4y=120

x+y=30

similarly second equation

x-y=20

(SOLVE THEM AND GET YOUR ANSWER)

x=25km/hr

y=5km/hr
