a motorcyclist drives from A to B at a uniform speed of 40 km per hour and returns back with a speed of 20 km per hour.Find the average speed.

your answer is -------

Let, total distance be 2d

now, from A to B speed is 40km

so, time taken from A to B is
t1 = (d/40)h

now, from B to A speed is 20km

so, time taken from B to A is
t2 = (d/20)h

now, average speed

= total distance / total time

= 2d / t1+t2

= (2d)/(d/20+d/40)

= 2d/(3d/40)


= 80/3 = 26.66 m/s
