Explanation:
Given :-
A motorcyclist drives from A to B with a uniform speed of 30 km/h and returns back with a speed of 20 km/h.
To Find :-
Average speed.
Formula to be used :-
Average speed = total distance/total time
Time = Distance/Speed.
Solution :-
Let the distance between A to B be x km.
Then,
Time taken to cover A to B, T₁ = x/30
Time taken to cover B to A, T₂ = x/20
Now, Time taken,
Time taken = T₁ + T₂
= x/30 + x/20 = 5x/60 hrs
Average speed = Total distance/Total time
= (x + x)/5x/60
= 24 km/h
Hence, the average speed is 24 km/h.
