Explanation:

average speed =total distance / total time

So total distance =d+d=2d(let distance between a and b be d)

Total time = d/40 + d/50

So by dividing

2d/(d/40+d/50)

By taking lcm and solving we get

2×40×50/(40+50)=400/9

Average velocity = total displacement/ total time taken

Total displacement is 0( as it comes back at point A ) so average velocity is 0
