A motorcyclist drives from place A to B with a uniform speed of 30 km/h and returns from place B to A with a uniform speed of 20 km/h. Find his average speed.

I need the explanation please.

Let the length of the line segment AB be x m

The time taken is given as t=distance covered/speed

Total time = t 1 +t 2 = x/30+x/20=5x/60h

Average speed = Total distance/Total time = 2x/5x/60 =24 km/h

here 2x is numarator and 5x/60 is denominator
