Given :

Initial momentum of the ball = 25 kg-m/s

Time of collison = 50×10⁻³ s

To Find :

The Average force exerted on the wall

Solution :

  • As the ball rebounds it travles with same magnitude but of opposite direction
  • Final momentum = -25 kg-m/s
  • Change in momentum = (initial momentum) - (final momentum)

                                     = 25 -(-25)  = 50kg-m/s

  • Force exerted on the wall = Change in momentum / Time of collision

                = 50 / 50×10⁻³ s

                = 1000N

The force exerted on the wall is 1000N
