A moving boat is observed from the top of a 150 m high cliff moving away from cliff. The angle of depression of the boat changes from 60 degrees to 45 degrees in 2 minutes. Find the speed of the boat in m/h.

step by step explanation:-

from ∆ABC,

=AB/BC=tan60°

=BC=AB/tan60°

=BC=150/√3

From ∆ABC

=AB/BD=tan60° or AB=BD. {since tan45°=1}

=BD=150m

Distance covered in 2min

= BD-BC

=150-150/√3

=150√3-150/√3

Distance covered in 1 hr

=150(√3-1)/√3×2×60m

Speed=4500(√3-1)/√3

=4509-1500√3

=4500-2598

=1902m/hr

Hence, the speed of the boat is 1902m/hr
