A moving object of mass m strikes at another stationary object of mass 2m with velocity

20m/s. If initial kinetic energy of moving object of mass m be 200J, then find kinetic energy of

the object of mass 2m after the collision of the two objects.

Answer:

200/3 J

Explanation:

first of all it should be mentioned in the question whether the collision is elastic or inelastic

loss in KE=1/2 u v² (1-e)

where u is reduced mass=( m1.m2)/(m1+m2)

and e is coefficient of restitution

or

velocity of separation/velocity of approach

assuming elastic collision

e=1

hence there is no loss in KE

Hence KE of the ball will be 200J

for inelastic collision-

0<e<1

for perfectly inelastic collision

e=0

check ur question thoroughly and answer using the given hints

hope it helps
