A multistorey apartment has four water tanks (P, Q, R, and S), each containing 1000 liters of water.
The water is being pumped from one tank to another as follows:
From P to Q@ 20 litres/minute
From R to P @ 90 litres/minute
From P to S @ 10 litres/minute
From R to S @ 50 litres/minute
From Q to R@ 100 litres/minute
From S to Q @ 110 litres/minute
Which tank gets emptied first, and how long does it take (in minutes) to get empty after pumping

Solution:

From P to Q@ 20 litres/minute

From P to S @ 10 litres/minute

P drains  = 20 + 10= 30  litres/minute

From R to P @ 90 litres/minute

=> Net  P fills with 90 -  30 = 60 litres/minute

From P to Q@ 20 litres/minute

From S to Q @ 110 litres/minute

Q  fills with 20 + 110  = 130  litres/minute

From Q to R@ 100 litres/minute

Q drain at  100 litres/minute

Net Q   fills with   130 - 100 = 30  litres/minute

From R to P @ 90 litres/minute

From R to S @ 50 litres/minute

R drains at 90 + 50 = 140   litres/minute

From Q to R@ 100 litres/minute

R  fills at 100 litres/minute

Net R Drains at 140 - 100 = 40 litres/minute

From P to S @ 10 litres/minute

From R to S @ 50 litres/minute

S fills at 10 + 50 = 60 litres/minute

From S to Q @ 110 litres/minute

S drains at 110 litres/minute

Net S Drains at 110 - 60 = 50 litres/minute

Hence S drains at fastest speed 50 litres per minute

S will empty first

and in 1000/50  =20  mins
