A multistory building has 25 floors above the ground level each of height 5m. It also has 3 floors in the basement each of height 5m. A lift in building moves at a rate of 1m/s. If a man starts from 50m above the ground, how long will it take him to reach at second floor of basement?

  • The number of Floors below the ground              3
  • The height of each floor                                        5 m

∴ If a man is 50 m above ground and he wants to go 2 floors below ground

Then he has to travel

⇒ 50 m + (2 × 5 m)

⇒ 50 m + 10 m

⇒ 60 m

So if it takes 1 second to cover 1 meter then

⇒ 60 m × 1 m/s

⇒ 60 sec

∴ it takes him 60 second or 1 minute to reach the basement
