(a) Naphthalene balls disappear with time without leaving any solid. Answer: Naphthalene ball is a sublimate and a sublimate turns into vapour without changing into liquid. Thus, naphthalene balls disappear with time without leaving any solid. (b) We can get the smell of perfume sitting several meters away.

a) 25° C = (25 + 273) K

= 298 K

b) 373° C = (373 + 273) K

= 646 K

When a perfume is sprayed several metres away from the source, the particles of the perfume diffuses with the particles of the gas. As we know that the particles of the gas have more kinetic energy, therefore it gets diffused with perfume particles and gets moved very fastly and reaches us

The forces of attraction are the strongest in solids, followed by liquids and the weakest in gases. Oxygen is a gas, water is a liquid and sugar is a crystalline solid. So the increasing order of forces of attraction is Oxygen < Water < Sugar.

(a) 25°C, the physical state of water is a liquid. (b) 0°C, the physical state of water can be either a solid or a liquid. (c) 100°C, the physical state of water can be either a liquid or a gas (steam).
