A narrow piece of land, with sea on either side, connecting two large land masses is known as Isthmus. It is a link or a connection between the two land masses.
The Isthmus of Panama, connecting the North and South Americas, is an example. It connects Costa Rica with Columbia. The Caribbean Sea is on its east and Pacific Ocean on the west.
