As a natural number is divided into two parts in the ratio 7 : 11,
let the two parts be 7x and 11x.
Then the difference of these parts = 11x – 7x = 4x.
According to given, 4x = 20 ⇒ x = 5.
∴ Required natural number
= 7x + 11x = 18x
= 18 × 5 = 90
Two parts are 7 × 5 and 11 × 5 i.e. 35 and 55.
