Let the number be x.

Total parts into which it has been divided=5+9=14.

First part=5x/14 and second part=9x/14.

Now difference is 4x/14 which is equal to 24.

Calculating, x=84.(Number)
First part=30. Second part=54.

Answer: The number is 84 and the parts are 30 and 54

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the two parts be 5x and 9x.

Given that,

9x-5x=24

4x=24

x=6

The no. Is

5x+9x=14x

14x=14×(6)=84

Parts are

1)5x=5×6=30

2)9x=9×6=54
