Let the natural number be x.

Now, according to the question

x- 3√x = 4

Let √x = y

Now, the equation can be written as : (√x)²- 3(√x) = 4

⇒ y²-3y = 4

⇒ y²-3y-4=0

⇒ (y+1)(y-4) =0

⇒ y = -1 , 4

Now, we have stated √x = y

⇒ √x = -1 , 4

⇒ x= 1 , 16             ∵ [On squaring both the sides]

Hence, the natural number can be either 1 or 16.
