A natural resource is anything found in nature that man can use for his benefit. Nature gives us air, water, soil, plants and animals. We use water for drinking, cooking and farming. Air is used for breathing. All these sources are renewable. Human beings use the oxygen in the air and breathe out carbon dioxide. Trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. In this way air is renewed. Similarly, water evaporates, condenses into clouds that give us rain. Soil is also renewable, but it takes thousands of years for a centimetre of soil to form. Trees and animals are also renewable, for trees keep on growing and animals are born. Questions: 1. What is a natural resource? 2. What do we use water for? 3. How do we get rain? 4. What do the human beings use to breathe in & breathe out from the air? 5. Write one word from the passage for 'Sponge Up'.
