The above statement is a false statement as a neutron is not formed by an electron and a proton combining together.

Also because neutron is an independent sub atomic particle. An atom consists of the three subatomic particles.

These are, protons that are positively charged, electrons that are negatively charged and neutrons that are neutral in nature.
