Given:

A new bridge between two cities reduced the travel time from 40 minutes to 10 minutes.

To find:

Find the decrease percentage of travel time.

Solution:

The original travel time between the two cities = 40 minutes

Due to the new bridge, the reduced travel time between the two cities = 10 minutes

∴ The difference between the travel time is,

= 40 minutes - 10 minutes

= 30 minutes

Now,

The decrease percentage of travel time is given as,

= \frac{Difference\:in\:the \:travel\:time}{Original\:travel\:time}\times 100

= \frac{30}{40}\times 100

= \frac{3}{4} \times 100

= 3 \times 25

= \bold{75\%}

Thus, the decrease percentage of travel time is → 75%.
