Because steel absorbs very little amount of light and reflects back the light but in case of wooden vessel it has dull appearence and reflects very little amount of light so it does not shine.

A new steel plate shines but a wooden vessel does not shine because of the following reasons-
- Steel is an alloy that is formed of certain metals like Iron and Carbon. It is lustrous and shines because of the loose electrons on its surface.
- When light hits its surface, the electrons absorb very little of it and reflect the majority.
- However, a wooden vessel does not shine because it absorbs the majority of the light that falls on it.
