Given : A NGO distributed masks and face shields to all people who were out for a delivery.

They initially purchased 20,000 masks and 10,000 shields, and gave away those in a few weeks.

The cost of the mask was $0.1 and face shields were $0.3. In total, they spent $5000.

The manufacturer of the masks and the shields also agreed to cut the price of all products by 30%.

To Find : Approximately, how many shields and masks can the NGO purchase within the same budget

Solution:

purchased

20,000 masks

10,000 shields,

cost of the mask = 0.1 $

Cost of shield = $ 0.3

Cost of  20,000 mask = 20000 * 0.1 = $ 2000

Cost of Shield  = 10000 & 0.3 = $ 3000

2000 + 3000 = $ 5000

price of all products by 30%.

Reduced Cost of mask = 0.1 - (30/100)0.1 =0.07 $

Mask could be bought = 2000/0.07  = 28,571.43

Reduced cost of Shield  = 0.3 - (30/100)0.3 =0.21 $

Shield could be bought = 3000/0.21 =  14,285.71

Mask could be bought =  28,571.43  ≈ 28,571

Shield could be bought  = 14,285.71  ≈ 14,286
