Take x to be the number.
x is currently 100%
ten percent increase = (10/100 * 100) + 100
= 110%

Twenty percent increase = (20/100 * 110) + 110
= 22/1 + 110
= 22 + 110 = 132%

Increase = Total percentage - Original percentage
= 132% - 100% = 32%

Therefore overall percentage increase in the number is 32%
