✯♦let distance between the stations be x km
while going,
=========================
▶speed = 54 km/hr
▶time taken = x /54 hr

♦while returning,
=================
▶speed = 36 km/hr
▶so time taken = x /36 hr

♦total time = x/54 + x/36
= (2x + 3x) / 108
= 5x/108 hr

▶average speed = total distance / total time
======================================
= (x + x) / 5x/108
= 2x * 108 / 5x
= 216 / 5
= 43.2 km/hr
