Let the cost of notebook and pen be Rs.x and Rs.y respectively .

ATQ,
x + y = 162 (1)

Also,
y = 5x + 30 (2)

Put eq.(2) in (1)

We get
x + 5x + 30 = 162
6x + 30 = 162
6x = 162 - 30
6x = 132
x = 132/6
x = 22

Put this value in eq (1)
x + y = 162
22 + y = 162
y = 162 - 22
y = 140

Cost of notebook = Rs.22
Cost of pen = Rs.140
