A number added to itself twelve times is five more than twice the number. What is the number?

Let the number be x
if it is added to itself 12 times, it will be 12x

given that 12x = 2x+5
⇒ 12x - 2x = 5
⇒ 10x = 5
⇒ x = 5/10
⇒ x = 0.5

The number is 0.5

let the number be z

if added to it only for 12 times then the number is 12x

given that  : 12z=2z+5

12z-2z = 5
10z = 5
( bring the 10 to the right side)
z = 5/10
z = 0.5

therefore the number is 0.5
