A number consists of two digits whose sum is 8 if 18 is added to the number its digits get interchanged. find the number.

Let the no. of ten's digit be X
& the no. of one's digit be Y

According to question,
X+Y=8..............(i)

now, the original no.will be =10X+Y

10X+Y+18=10Y+X
10X-X+ Y-10Y=-18
9X-9Y=-18
X-Y=-2............................... (ii)

adding i & ii

X+Y+ X-Y=8+(-2)
2X=6
X=3

putting in equation ii
we get,

X-Y=-2
3-Y=-2
-Y=-2-3
Y=5

the required no. is
10X+Y
=10×3+5
=30+5
=35...........
