A number consists of two digits, whose sum is 9. If the digits are reversed, the new number is 3/8 of the first number. Find the number​

sum x+y=9----------------------(1)

then number=10x+y

If the digits are reversed, the new number i=x+10y

now given

x+10y=3/8(10x+y)

8(x+10y)=3(10x+y)

8x+80y=30x+3y

22x-77y=0

2x-7y=0--------------(2)

Multiplying (1) by 2

2x+2y=18--------------(3)

subtracting  (2) from (3)

9y=18

y=2

so x=9-2=7

Hence number=72
