ANSWER:

REQUIRED NUMBER= 183

GIVEN:

Numbers = 12,15,18

TO FIND:

A number which divides 12,15 and 18 then the remainder is 3.

SOLUTION:

Firstly we have to find the LCM of 12,15,18

12 = 1 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \\ 15 = 1 \times 3 \times 5 \\ 18 = 1 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3 \\  \: lcm = 1 \times 2 \times 2 \times 3 \times 3 \times 5 \\  \: lcm = 180

Here 12,15,18 divide 180 completely. So in order to give remainder 3 we have to add 3 to 180.

Required number = 180+3

Required number = 180+3 = 183

NOTE:

  • This type of question can be solved by finding the LCM and then at the number which is to come as remainder.
  • for example here, remainder should left = 3. then Required number will be LCM+3
