A number first decreases by 60%,then again decreases by80%. Find the percentage decrease on the whole

95% is the answer and understand it by the example that you have the number 100 as a decreases to 60% to get 40 and as decreases to 80% you get 5

Let m be the number. After the decrease of 60% the number becomes (100-60)m/100
or 40m/100 or 2m/5.
Then 80% decrease of 2m/5 means
(20/100)(2m/5)
=
(m/100)(40/5)
=(8/100)m
So after 60% and 80% decrease the number becomes 8%
So the percentage decrease is (100-8)=92%
