a number first increased by 20%and then the new number so obtained is decreased by 20%. find the net increase and decrease percent.

Let the number = 100

Increased by 20% = 100+20 = 120

New number = 120

Decreased by 20% = 120-20% of 120
= 120- 24 =96

Now,

Net Decrease percentage = 100-96 = 4% .

The net Decrease percentage is 4% .
