Let us consider that the number is x.

Then,

3 < x < 8 .....(i)

and

6 < x < 10 .....(ii)

Now, adding the two inequalities (i) and (ii), we3 get

3 + 6 < x + x < 8 + 10

=> 9 < 2x < 18

=> 9/2 < x < 9

So, the number is greater than 9/2 and less than 9. So, we have natural numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8.

But 8 contradicts (i) and, 5 and 6 contradict (ii).

The only possibility is 7, which satisfies all the three inequalities.

Thus the required number is 7.
