Let Y be the Unknown number.

From the given condition,

Y/2 + 3 = 12 - Y/4

Y/2 + Y/4 = 12 - 3

3Y/4 = 9

3Y = 9*4

3Y = 36

Y = 36/3

Y = 12.

Therefore, the Unknown number is 12.
