A number has two digits and the digit at ten’s place is four times the digit at the unit place. If 54 is subtracted from the number, the digits are reversed. What is the original number?

according to the question:

4x = y

also,

(10x + y ) - 54 = 10y + x

on solving this

9x - 9y = 54

taking 9 common:

9( x-y) = 54

substituting 4x = y

x-4x= 6

-3x = 6

x= -2

y = 8

so the no is 28 or -28
