unit place digit=x
then,tens digit number=4x
suppose,x=2
then,
4x=8

then, two digit number is =82.
now,subtract 54 from 82.
we get 28.
28 is reversed number of 82.

so ,the number is 82.

Concept

If there is any number, say ab, with digits a and b. It can be written as ab = 10a + b.

Given

A two digit number whose tens place digit is four times the unit place. If 54 is deducted from the number its digits are reversed.

Find

we need to find the number

Solution

Let the units place digit of the number be x

Therefore, the number at tens place = 4x

Thus the number is 40x + x

If the digits are reversed, the number will become 10x + 4x

Thus, we can see that

40x + x - 54 =  10x + 4x

40x - 10x + x - 4x = 54

27x = 54

x = 2

and thus, 4x = 8

Therefore, the given number is 82.
