let one no. be x and the other be x + 12
sum = 48
x + x + 12 = 48
2x + 12 = 48
2x = 48 - 12
2x = 36
x = 36 by 2
x = 18

therefore x = 18 and x+12= 18+12=30
so the answer is 18 and 30

Given:

A number is 12 more than the other and their sum is 48.

To find:

The numbers.

Solution:

Let the one number be x.

So, according to the question, we have,

the other number = x + 12

Also,

the sum of numbers is 48.

So,

one number + another number = 48

x + (x + 12) = 48

2x + 12 = 48

2x = 36

x =  \frac{36}{2}

x = 18

Now,

on putting the value of in x + 12, we have,

The other number =

18 + 12 = 30

Hence, the two numbers are 18 and 30.
