Solution:

X-4+2y=X+2y=4

x+2y=4

X/2+Y/3=8

6/1(X/2+y/3)=8

3x+2y=8

X+2y=4

Subtract one equation from another

3x+2y=8

-(x+2y)=4

-x-2y=4

3x+2y=8

2x=4

X=2

put X in other equation to find y

X-4+2y=

2-4+2y=4

—2+2y=-4

+2y = -2

Y=-1
