Answer:  100 and 150

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one of the number be x

∴The other number will be x + 50

Given that the fraction obtained by dividing the smaller number by the larger number = 2/3

ie,      x          =  2

      x + 50         3

By cross multiplying, we get,

ie,   3x  = 2(x + 50)

ie,   3x  = 2x + 100

ie,   3x - 2x = 100

ie,   x  =  100

Hence the other number = x + 50  = 100 + 50  =  150

∴ The required numbers are 100 and 150

Correct Question:-

A number is 50 more than the other number. The fraction obtained by dividing the smaller number by the larger number is 2/3. find the answer ?

Given data:-

  • A number is 50 more than the other number.
  • The fraction obtained by dividing the smaller number by the larger number is 2/3.

Solution:-

Let, 'x' be that number,

So here, { from given & assumption }

Number = x .....( 1 )

Other Number = ( x + 50 ) .......( 2 )

Here, we know that ( x + 50 ) > x

Hence, now from given

{ \bf{ \dashrightarrow{ \frac{x}{(x + 50)} =  \frac{2}{3}  }}}

{ \bf{ \dashrightarrow{ 3x = 2(x + 50)}} }

{ \bf{ \dashrightarrow{ 3x = 2x + 100}} }

{ \bf{ \dashrightarrow{ 3x  - 2x = 100}} }

{ \bf{ \dashrightarrow{ x = 100}} }

From ( 1 ) & ( 2 )

Number is 100 &

Other Number = x + 50

Other Number = 100 + 50

Other Number = 150

Hence, number is 100 & other number is 150.
