Number is 72

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Let the number be x
  • Now the sum of the number = z
  • Let the number of terms be n
  • Average = a

And we know that,

Average, A = \frac {z}{n}

So, z = \frac {1}{3} x + \frac {1}{4} x + \frac {1}{12} x

= \frac {2x}{3}

n = 3

A = \frac {2x}{3} \times \frac {1}{3} = \frac {2x}{9}

Now, According to Question,

Number is 56 more than average

i.e. x = 56 +  \frac {2x}{9}

x = 72
