let one part of number = x
therefore , other part of number = x+10
according to question ,
x+10/x=5/3
3(x+10)= 5x
3x+30 =5x
30 = 5x -3x
30 = 2x
or x=30/2
x=15
therefore one part of number = 15
and other part = 15+10 =25
hence number = 15+25 =40
