A number is divided into two parts such that one part is10 more than the other. If the two parts are in the ratio 5:3,find the number and two parts .

Let the no. be x

And another part be y.

Case 1 ) x = y +10

x - y = 10

Case 2)

$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{5}{3}$

$= > 3x - 5y = 0$

Eleminating equation 1 & 2

$3x - 3y = 30 \\ 3x - 5y = 0$

$2y = 30$

$y = 15$

put this in equation 1 or 2

3x - 5 × 15 =0

3x = 75

x = 25
