A number is divided into two parts such that one partis 10 more parts are in the ratio 5:3, find the number and the two parts.

\huge{\boxed{\red{Given}}}

  • The parts are in the ratio of 5:3
  • One number is 10 more parts.

\huge{\boxed{\red{Solution}}}

Given,

The parts are in the ratio of 5:3 and one part is 10 more parts.

So,

Let the first number and the second number be 5x : 3x

And the second number is 3x + 10

➣ 5x = 3x + 10

➣ 5x - 3x = 10

➣ 2x = 10

➣ x = 10/2

➣ x = 5

The first number = 5x = 5 × 5 => 25

The second number =3x + 10 =3(5) => 15

The new number is 25 + 15 = 40.
