• Let's find the numbers first, before finding their difference.

Let :-

• The first number be "x".

Then :-

• The other number will be "4x", as it is four times of the first number.

It is given that :-

• Their sum is 10.

Therefore,

$: \longmapsto \sf x + 4x = 10$

$\sf: \longmapsto5x = 10$

$\sf: \longmapsto x = \dfrac{10}{5}$

$\sf: \longmapsto x = 2$

Hence, the numbers are :-

$\bf x = 2.$

$\bf4x = 4 \times 2 = 8.$

And :-

• Their difference = 8 - 2 = 6.
