Answer :-

  • The difference between the two numbers is 6.

To find :-

  • The difference of the two numbers.

Solution :-

  • Let's find the numbers first, before finding their difference.

Let :-

  • The first number be "x".

Then :-

  • The other number will be "4x", as it is four times of the first number.

It is given that :-

  • Their sum is 10.

Therefore,

: \longmapsto \sf x + 4x = 10

 \sf: \longmapsto5x = 10

 \sf: \longmapsto x =  \dfrac{10}{5}

 \sf: \longmapsto x = 2

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hence, the numbers are :-

 \bf x = 2.

 \bf4x = 4 \times 2 = 8.

 \\

And :-

  • Their difference = 8 - 2 = 6.
