Given:

✰ A number is increased by 10%

✰ The increase number is decreased by 10%

To find:

✠ The net decrease or increase percentage.

Solution:

Let the required number be 100

According to question,

Firstly, when the number is increased by 10%

⟹ 100 + 10% of 100

⟹ 100 + 10/100 × 100

⟹ 100 + 10

⟹ 110

Next, when the increase number is decreased by 10%

⟹ 110 - 10% of 110

⟹ 110 - 10/100 × 110

⟹ 110 - 11

⟹ 99

Net amount = 100 - 99

➣ Net amount = 1

Now, its decrease of 1 from 100 therefore, the net decrease in percentage= 1%

Other way,

➣ 1 × 100/100

➣ 100/100

➣ 1%

The net decrease in percentage = 1%
