Let the no. is 100

Increase in the no. = 20% of 100 = 20/100*100 = 20

So, Increased no. = 100 + 20 = 120

Decrease in the no.

= 20/100*120. [ Note : * = ×]

= 24

∴ New no. = 120 - 24 = 96.

Now , net decrease = 100 - 96 = 4

Hence, Net decrease % = 4/100*100 = 4%

Thus , net decrease % is 4%.
