A NUMBER IS INCREASED BY 26 AND THE NEW NUMBER IS DIVIDED BY 3. IF THE RESULTING NUMBER IS 18 FIND THE ORIGINAL NUMBER.

x+26/3=18
x+26=54
x=28

now from the question we get
 \frac{x + 26}{3}  = 18 \\ or. \: x + 26 = 54 \\ or. \: x = 54 - 26 = 28
so the original number be 28
